Celebrating Success of the Bucket Hat Customization Workshop at Boys and Girls Club of Boston-Yawkey Club of Roxbury

(Boston, Ma) On September 27, 2024, the Boys and Girls Club of Boston- Yawkey Club of Roxbury was abuzz with creativity and excitement as it hosted a highly successful Bucket Hat Customization workshop. This event brought together young designers, community members, and supporters for an afternoon of artistic expression and community bonding.

The workshop provided participants with the opportunity to design and personalize their own bucket hats, using a variety of materials and techniques. They were introduced to the design process, learned about design transfers, practiced hands-on layering of design transfers, and engaged in the weeding process. The young designers showcased their talents and individuality through their customized creations. The event not only fostered creativity but also encouraged collaboration and inclusivity, as participants shared ideas and helped each other bring their visions to life.

The bucket hat customization workshop was more than just an art event; it was a celebration of community spirit, the power of creative expression and STEAM Education. MarQuia Lawson, owner of Quia Mara Group and workshop instructor was asked how giving back to the community has impacted her. She stated “It brought my confidence up. This is where I was giving an insight into the process [of how] I conduct my business". Lawson gave further insight into how her process has inspired students to access the artist within. "It also allowed me to have students tap into their creative side. If you want to venture off on your own, you can do that”. The smiles on the faces of the participants and the sense of accomplishment in the air were testaments to the positive impact of such initiatives. We look forward to organizing more events that bring our community together and provide platforms for young talents to shine.
